100 years of history
like no other

Kaune Oy’s founder, industrialist Herman Anton Nieminen (1888-1963) was originally a metal worker. He was born in Naantali in 1888, got a profession in an artisan school in the years 1904-1908, worked as an ornamental blacksmith in Willy Baer Atelier 1875-1961, accomplished a journeyman book in 1909 and got a title of a master craftsman in 1948.

Since 1996 Kaune Oy has been run by Herman Nieminen’s granddaughter Anita Saksi with her husband Harri Saksi.

Burj Al Arab Terrace, Dubai

The sail-shaped Burj Al Arab Terrace is the only seven-star hotel in the world, located on the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah luxury island. We implemented all of the interior glass, the restaurant’s glass show kitchen, the 400-meter full glass railing as well as the glass bridge leading to the pools of the island.

Laurin talot TV-program (MTV)

In the Laurin talot TV-program we followed how one of Finland’s successful musicians, Lauri Ylönen, designed and implemented four never before seen houses in Finland. We were involved in the series to implement the glazing of the houses. We also implemented the glazing (glass walls, mirror, shower walls and doors) for the bathroom and sauna section that was built into the bedroom for Lauri Ylönen’s own house

TUI Cruises, Mein Schiff 1

A masterpiece of Finnish shipbuilding, the cruise ship TUI Cruises Mein Schiff 1 was completed in April in 2018 at Meyer’s shipyard in Turku. We implemented, for example, the glass railings of the glass stairs as well as the glass steps of the ship.

Hotel with Urban Deli: Sveavägen, Tukholma

The award-winning Hotel With Urban Deli is a modern and relaxed luxury hotel in Stockholm. We implemented the illuminated mirror, sandblasted shower walls as well as the glass walls with a sliding door in the hotel rooms.

Solo Sokos Hotel Assembly room in Turku

Solo Sokos Hotel Assembly in Turku is a legendary boutique hotel in the middle of the city of Turku. We implemented the fade-out glass walls and the mirrors of the hotel rooms.

H-house, Central hospital of Vaasa

Completed in 2018, the Central hospital of Vaasa’s H-house is a good example of utilizing Kaune Smartglass™ in operating rooms and patient room windows. We implemented all aluminum and glass structures in the Central hospital of Vaasa’s H-house.. The hospital’s interior smart glass structures were made to be fire retardant firewalls.

Gatorade center

A place where large public events take place and HC TPS’s home hall, Gatorade Center is known for the large glass façade implemented by Kaune. In addition to the Entrance giant glass wall, Kaune has implemented the interior and exterior glass and aluminum structures of the Gatorade Center

Floating villa: Abu Dhabi

We were involved in the implementation of the Abu Dhabi Floating luxury Villa that was constructed for the sheik of Dubai. We were responsible for all the aluminum structures of all the windows and doors as well as the interior glazing in the 6000 square-meter, 80-meter long and 25-meter wide villa. The aluminum structures were implemented using products by Schücon. .

Marasi Business Bay Water Homes, Dubai

We implemented the aluminum structures of all the windows and doors as well as interior glazing of ten floating villas in the Marasi Business Bay of Dubai. Products by Schüco were utilized as aluminum structures. We also implemented the gorgeous pillarless glass railings outside of the villas.
