Projects with a hundred years of experience
A hundred years of experience from both the construction and the ship interior industry has made Kaune one of the leading glaziers in Finland. For example, structures designed by Alvar Aalto in the area of Vaasa have glazing and mounts by Kaune. The latest enormous glazing project we did was the legendary Burj Al Arab luxury hotel of Dubai.

Burj Al Arab Terrace, Dubai
The sail-shaped Burj Al Arab Terrace is the only seven-star hotel in the world, located on the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah luxury island. We implemented all of the interior glass, the restaurant’s glass show kitchen, the 400-meter full glass railing as well as the glass bridge leading to the pools of the island.
Laurin talot TV-program (MTV)
In the Laurin talot TV-program we followed how one of Finland’s successful musicians, Lauri Ylönen, designed and implemented four never before seen houses in Finland. We were involved in the series to implement the glazing of the houses. We also implemented the glazing (glass walls, mirror, shower walls and doors) for the bathroom and sauna section that was built into the bedroom for Lauri Ylönen’s own house.
Birgitta Hernesaari, Helsinki
Birgitta Hernesaari is a statuesque cafe pavilion in Hernesaari, Helsinki. This building with very special architecture was built in a challengingly windy area, which was tackled by using a timber frame as well as Kaune movable glass, whole glass doors, and glass ceilings.
H-house, Central hospital of Vaasa
Completed in 2018, the Central hospital of Vaasa’s H-house is a good example of utilizing Kaune Smartglass™ in operating rooms and patient room windows. We implemented all aluminum and glass structures in the Central hospital of Vaasa’s H-house.. The hospital’s interior smart glass structures were made to be fire retardant firewalls.
Piikkiö project: glazing the cabins of Costa Smeralda
The cruise ship M/s Viking Grace, built in adherence to green standards, sails the route between Turku and Stockholm in the evenings. We implemented the glazing in the Spa & Wellness section as well as in the other spaces on Viking Grace. Glass walls, mirrors, shower walls, and fire safety glasses were installed in the Spa & Wellness section.
Solo Sokos Hotel Assembly room in Turku
Solo Sokos Hotel Assembly in Turku is a legendary boutique hotel in the middle of the city of Turku. We implemented the fade-out glass walls and the mirrors of the hotel rooms.
Hotel With Urban Deli: Sveavägen, Stockholm
The award-winning Hotel With Urban Deli is a modern and relaxed luxury hotel in Stockholm. We implemented the illuminated mirror, sandblasted shower walls as well as the glass walls with a sliding door in the hotel rooms.
TUI Cruises, Mein Schiff 1
A masterpiece of Finnish shipbuilding, the cruise ship TUI Cruises Mein Schiff 1 was completed in April in 2018 at Meyer’s shipyard in Turku. We implemented, for example, the glass railings of the glass stairs as well as the glass steps of the ship.
Viking Grace Spa & Wellness
